Environment:
Blade Runner - Dark, rainy, and Mysterious. Always a sense of something hiding in the background or around the corner. Very futuristic. All mainly buildings and no greenery life evident. Dystopic chaos is how i would describe the setting in the environment.
Trouble & her Friends: Set in the future as well. Seemed cheerful with all the new invention to make life easier and clutter less. Sunny outside but darkly themed with all the black market sales taking place. Very brightly lit with neons and colors everywhere. Gaudy buildings and racy billboards showing women sexually. Didn't know if there were plants and grass or not.
Time:
Blade Runner- I believe set in around 2020. They had flying cars and no plant life. I guess all the pollution killed off all the greenery?
Trouble & her Friends- One part mentioned that the buildings weren’t new even 80 years age so I believe that this takes place in 100 years or so from now. No flying cars mentioned but there was this idea they could travel the net and get to where there going in record time. The telephone was now a musical code to get a hold of someone as well very futuristic.
Character:
Blade Runner- The was a protagonist and an antagonist in this movie. The cop played by ford was trying to discover what was going on and trying to put a stop to it. There were cyborgs (antagonist)that’s wanted to fight their fate of being programmed to die at a certain lifespan. There were also many women objectified to very little clothing and an intense amount of makeup. Both the good and bad get in fights throughout both story’s. Characters (Cyborgs) afraid to die.
Trouble & her Friends- Trouble/Cerise/ or Miss Kitty all one person was the way I received it was going against the system, to fight her programming to be a killer. The Dollie-girls were dressed very sexy with short skirts and bright “clown” makeup and tall stripper shoes.
Cerise has a strong will to live and doesn’t give up at the end when everyone does on her. Fear and anger was used as an emotion much of the time.
Thematic Concerns:
Blade Runner- Why aren’t all the real people dead since there is no oxygen because there isn’t any greenery? Also, Sometimes the cyborgs felt pain and sometimes they didn’t. Do they or don’t they fell pain?
Trouble & her Friends- Not quite sure who trouble is or if it’s Cersise herself. Or who is Miss Kitty? Also What does ICE stand for and what is the whole Brainworm thing? I think it is their illegal programming to kill that their so against. Also when she cries how does she produce her tears and why doesn’t she have a short. I do have a lot of unanswered questions with this one.
Other:
Both storys had something tangible to follow. In Blade Runner it was the photographs of the woman and in Trouble it was a network map.
