technology

Page history last edited by thewoj 10 mos ago

technology when first comes to mind is science, anything and everything computer-based, and innovations that lead us into the future.

although science, can sometimes be associated with technology, it is not necessarily science. in fact, they are separate from each other and have different purposes. technology's is more material based than natural.

technology can be an object, activity, knowledge, and a process, and the object is definitely one that is thought of the most when thinking of technology. Objects, particularly inventions to serve as an aid or to connect or entertain. Some examples are mp3 players, the world-wide web, cell phones, and the list goes on. We even forget about the ordinary everyday objects such as the paperclip, electricity, the toothbrush, the spoon, the shoe, and the list goes on. The list is also opinionated because everyone has their own opinion of what is really an invention because everyone might use it or find it useful, like the bra.

there is the object and what leads to the object is developed from the need, which falls under design, which is a characteristic of technology. there are many characteristics of technology, its relationship with science, design, values, multi-dimenstional, and shape.

technology is something that most importantly today, aids. today, it is helping, or so we think, our planet by "keeping us green". thanks to technology, we are using less paper, with sources like electronic mail. we are finding better ways to make use of our garbadge, by recycling and reusing.

technology has made strong connections among the people around the globe. with the invention of the internet we have been able to stay in touch with folk that we may have never had the chance to know if it wasn't for the web. we now have video chatting online which gives us the chance to stay close.

technology even saves time. it provides services that cuts time down at work. take the printer, the copier, even tape. it cuts down time even doing house hold tasks or hobbies. tools that have been around for centuries that still keep getting re-designed in order to cut back on time that was used by the original tool, for example the screw driver.

EDIT: Let's focus on technology from the last 30 years, just to give us more specific perimeters.

I found an interesting link about "fembots" and how they subvert the liberating feminist role of cyborgs.  I'm not sure if this is the best page to post this, but I figured that since it relates to technology, I'd paste it here.  -TheWoj
